Based on publicly disclosed information, the Sustainable Circuits Index™ assesses and classifies the performance of 97 international circuits across seven key sustainable development parameters: certifications, accreditations, awards, environmental performance, social performance, economic impact and sustainability approach and engagement.

The report notes that "Circuit de la Sarthe made impressive progress across many sustainability parameters in 2022". In keeping with its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy unveiled in June 2021, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) has given greater importance to the catering sector by increasing the share of local produce in its catering provisions, obtaining the Ecotable label in the process.

2022 also saw the launch of three interconnected initiatives – the Green Ticket, Green Challenge and Green Fan Zone – which were introduced to fans under the Green Experience banner to encourage low-carbon transport solutions, eco-friendly food options and charitable endeavours.

In a further demonstration of CSR commitment and solidarity, the ACO also organised a collection of emergency supplies for Ukraine and an auction of signed Ukrainian flags in support of the Ukrainian people.
