In 1963, Ford, the legendary American manufacturer, wished to change its image and attract a younger and more dynamic clientele. The decision was made to go off and challenge the European manufacturers, especially Ferrari, on their home turf: the 24 Hours of Le Mans! For the 1964 edition, the Americans designed a new model: the GT 40. Fast, but rather unreliable, unfortunately the Fords soon left the field open to the formidable Ferrari 275 Ps. But the Americans didn't throw in the towel and returned the following years! So, from 1964 to 1967, the two manufacturers went head to head, and their duel afforded the race in Le Mans one of its more unforgettable chapters.
