24 Hours of Le Mans - “My 1st time at Le Mans...!”

One of the major preoccupations of the Automobile Club de l

Every year the Le Mans 24 Hours attracts more and more spectators. In 2014, 263 000 people saw Audi score another victory. The spectators coming for the first time represent around 25% of the visitors at each event. The ACO would like to help and guide these newcomers so that they understand all about the race, and how to find their way around the huge Le Mans 24-Hours circuit enclosure for this extraordinary event that’s accessible to all kinds of people.

The aim of the operation "My 1st time at Le Mans..." is to help this new public to enjoy the race to the full as well as all the entertainment on hand, from the entertainments village to the different exhibitions, and to help them discover the legendary places that make the Le Mans race such a myth.

This year, the ACO is going to make a big effort by mobilising 500 regulars of the Le Mans 24 Hours recognisable by their chequered armband to welcome new spectators in the early morning of Saturday 13th June.

As soon as they arrive at the circuit they will be directed to the northern entrance (main circuit entrance), the Annex (on the Laigné road) and Tertre Rouge (at the tramway terminus) where the chalets "My 1st time at Le Mans..." will be located.

This will be the start of their immersion in the magic of Le Mans! They will be given a Welcome kit in which they will find different information tools in French and in English to help them familiarise themselves with the race so that they miss none of the weekend’s highlights.

A game exclusively reserved for these new spectators will be organised. They will have to answer 12 questions to which they can find the responses during a pedagogic, relaxed walk that will take them to various strategic points on the circuit ranging from the Tertre Rouge corner to the entertainments village in the International Karting Complex.

The players must validate their participation in the central chalet "My 1st time at Le Mans..." in the center of the 24-Hours village beside the information office. Twenty-four winners will be drawn at random among the correct replies on Sunday 15th June at 15h00, and they will win prizes that will delight young and old alike.

Spectators can round off their discovery of the Le Mans 24-Hours circuit thanks to the expanded shuttle service put in place in 2015. Ten free public transport lines (on presentation of your general enclosure ticket for the Le Mans 24 Hours), will be put into circulation for spectators to link the strategic points of the track, and allow them to go to the famous Mulsanne and Arnage corners, among others.
